Short Review: Tribute to Madam Noor Jehan; "GUL-E-DAUDI"

Review:

A few days back, EMI Pakistan Ltd. released a short 15 minutes film, paying tribute to Madam Noor Jehan. It was directed by Umar Riaz, a young and very talented director. Media management was undertaken by Transmedia Digital.
I am not very fond of watching movies but was asked to watch this one. When I first heard that it's a tribute to Madam Noor Jehan, I thought it would be based on her life or her music career etc. but it wasn't like that.

It was a silent, black and white movie, like the ones people used to watch in old times. This is the real beauty of the movie. The director has done a great job! The storyline of the movie is simple yet unique. Old school filming technique adds extra points to it.
It is the story of a young boy and a girl in love, from their childhood to adulthood that shows different aspects of life focusing mainly on love and relationship. How a girl and boy fall in love in their childhood, how the love at that age is innocent. Then, how they grow up together, their intimacy, their bonding, their strong relationship in the form of marriage, everything is shown so beautifully. It shows how love can be so sweet and so harsh at times. Yes, that's the reality.
The movie shows how life is not only happiness and not only sadness but is a combination of both. There are good times and bad times, but how people who are together and who have to be together face all the difficulties together. They have to go through thick and thin together to prove their love and this makes the bond stronger.
The movie is a silent movie and each situation is described by Noor Jehan's songs. The legend's songs fit perfectly into every situation. From innocent childhood love to adulthood love involving intimacy, from sweet to sour. Every situation is described perfectly by her songs, from beginnings to middles to endings.

Cast:

The central couple was played by Ismat Jawwad and Usman Latif who are married to each other in real life.
Here is the cast of the movie.

About the director:

Umar Riaz is a young, talented, student Oscar nominated director, born and raised in Lahore and currently lives in New York City. His amazing award winning short films have been screened at various film festivals internationally.

Easy Tawwa Chicken Tikka Recipe.

A few days back, we had some guests at our home for dinner. We had an hour or two for preparing the food because they had not informed us earlier. I was helping my mom in the kitchen and made tawwa chicken tikka for the guests. This is a quite easy and tasty recipe. I uploaded the picture on my snapchat and instagram, and on the request of my followers, I'm uploading the recipe on the blog.

Here's a picture of the chicken, the picture quality is not so good because I had no intention of putting it up on the blog lol.
So, here's the recipe.

Ingredients:

  • Two chicken breasts, cut in pieces and flatten
  • Ginger garlic paste 3 tbsp
  • Salt, Red chilly powder, Chicken tikka masala, Chicken Tandoori masala to taste
  • Curd  4 tbsp
  • Lemon 4 (use the juice)
  • Vinegar 4 tbsp
  • Oil 4,5 tbsp

Recipe:

Marinate the chicken with all of these ingredients for two hours, you can change the quantity according to taste. After that, put a little oil on the pan (tawwa) , let it heat a bit and put two-three pieces of chicken, cook one side, then cook the other. Keep the flame low in the beginning, then increase the flame a little. When cooked, take these pieces out in a plate. Do the same with all the pieces.
Then put all the chicken pieces on the pan again, with very low flame.
Heat a piece of coal (this gives amazing bbq taste and smell)
When fully heated, add it in a foil paper shaped in the form of a cup.
Place this foil paper and coal on the pan immediately, and cover the pan with a lid.
Turn the flame off. The chicken and the coal stay covered on the pan for 5 minutes to give it steam of the coal.
Then, take the lid off and dish the chicken out.
Ready to eat. :)
Serve with chutney.

Beauty World's Mousse Creamy Glitters Review

As we all know that girls LOVE glitters. Not just teenage girls or adults, using them in their makeup, I remember, during my childhood, I used to collect glitters in different colors. I had a huge collection of glitters and I used them in all my arts projects and every decoration.
Now, being 21, I still have love for glitters. Being a makeup junkie, I'm obsessed with glittery eye makeup. It looks too good.
Today, I'm going to review Mousse Creamy Glitters that I bought from a facebook page "Beauty World".
Here's a picture of my palette:

Just as they look, these glitters are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. What I like the most is that this page has got a wide variety of colors, in mousse and pressed glitters in such cheap rates.
I bought this palette because it has almost all the colors that I wanted.
Coming to the texture, they have sort of a creamy mousse texture and are not messy at all. Application is much easy and are water proof. These vibrant colors look too good on eyes and spread so easily, I'm in love!
Another thing, they stays on for long & are waterproof so you can use them on the top of your lipstick too, to get those glamorous glittery lips 💋✨
Let's summarize everything.

Price:

Rs.900 for 12 shades. So cheap.

Pros:

  • Not messy at all
  • Smooth application
  • Waterproof
  • Cheap price

Cons:

Can't think of any

(Couldn't share the swatches but you can find them on Beauty World's facebook page)
Take care lovelies. xx

8 things you need to know before you get ready for Eid.

Hi guys. Chand Raat Mubarak. I hope you've got all things ready to get yourself dolled up this Eid. 😊
Here are a few things I want to tell you that you need to remember while doing your makeover.
Okay, let's start.

1. Don't forget to prepare your skin:

Cleansing, toning and moisturizing are very important steps. You should add these steps in your daily skin care routine. Cleansing helps you remove dirt from your skin, toning helps to close the pores and prevents from breakouts and moisturizing is necessary to hydrate your skin. These steps also prepare your skin for makeup, helping in smooth application.

2. Right amount and shade of foundation.

Always remember not to apply too much foundation. It takes away the natural look and makes you look cakey and fake. Another thing to remember while choosing the right foundation is 'choose the foundation that matches your skin tone'. I have seen many people applying foundation lighter than their skin tone to look 'fair' and trust me this is not right at all. It makes your complexion greyish and fake. Not a good decision. Foundations are meant to enhance your tone NOT to lighten it. God has made you beautiful. You can look gorgeous in your wheatish complexion too :) ps go for a waterproof foundation, it's too hot out there.

3. Contouring, highlighting and applying blush according to the shape of your face is must.

We all have different shapes of our faces. Some have round faces, some have heart shaped face, some have oval, some have square and much more. Application of contour, highlighter and blush is also different for different shapes. You can see the picture above, it explains the right way of application of these according to different face shapes.

4. Liquid lipsticks stay longer, don't smudge or bleed.

Liquid matte lipsticks have a better staying power, they don't end up bleeding, smudging or simply disappearing. They're trending too. Yes, they do make your lips feel dry but you can exfoliate and then moisturize and prime your lips before application to minimize the dryness.

5. Don't apply too many layers of mascara and make your eyelashes clumpy.

Too much mascara that makes your eyelashes clumpy is NOT a good idea. Try not to apply more than two layers. You can apply three if your lashes don't start clumping (depends on the mascara that you're wearing). If you want your lashes to have more volume for Eid, use false eyelashes for your look.

6. Don't forget to invest in a good, waterproof, smudge proof eyeliner.

Do you want to look like this after an hour or two of applying makeup for Eid? Of course NOT. Girls, it's too hot out there. You don't want your eyeliner to smudge and destroy your complete look. So do wear a nice waterproof eyeliner :)

7. Don't forget your brows.

Brows give your face a more defined, gorgeous look. Patchy, light eyebrows don't look nice at all. I have seen many people completely ignoring their eyebrows. You're blessed if you've got naturally thick, dark eyebrows but don't forget to fill in your brows if you need to.

8. Set your makeup with a setting powder.

After you've done your makeup, don't forget to set it with a setting powder. Many people skip this step but remember, it's Eid and you wanr your makeup to last longer. :)

I hope you liked the tips, stay tuned for more posts in the future. May your makeup be on point this Eid. Look gorgeous, Eid Mubarak, love. xx

The Body Shop Body Butter in Strawberry Review

Hi guys. I hope everyone's fine.
Today I'd like to review Body Butter in strawberry by The Body Shop.

So, here's a picture of the product. It has a very light baby pink colour just like strawberry icecream. Yum 😋
It doesn't smell like fresh strawberries but like strawberry candies or ice cream and I totally LOVE the smell.
Okay, now coming to the consistency, it's kind of thick, butter like (I know body butters are supposed to be like butter) and doesn't absorb quickly. You have to wait till it gets absorbed. I have a normal to combination skin and I feel it a little heavy after applying but within a minute, it gets absorbed. People with dry skin will surely love it more.
It gives my skin a nice feeling, making it smooth and smell like strawberry ice cream but doesn't make it much soft.
Secondly, makes me sweat too much when it's hot. I guess it suits people with dry skin better.

Pros:

  • Amazing fruity smell that lasts long.
  • Makes skin smooth, doesn't feel heavy except after the first few seconds of application.

Cons:

  • Not good for people with combination or oily skin.
  • Takes time to get absorbed.
  • Doesn't make the skin soft.
I'd suggest you to use it if you're a fan of fruity smells and if you have a dry skin. People with normal skin type can also use it.
Love. xx

Common ingredients in your kitchen that help you grow NEW HAIR

I have already posted about hair fall before, I posted some tips that could help you prevent hair loss. I'm writing about hair loss once again, but this time, the topic is slightly different.
Let's talk about new hair growth. Is it possible? Yes. With some ingredients that are present in your kitchen.
So, let's see what they are.

What helps you grow new hair?

  • ginger
  • garlic
  • onion

How?

Let's have a look how these things work.

Ginger:

Ginger helps stimulating blood flow to the scalp, that triggers the hair follicles and help in growing new hair. It has fatty acids too, that prevent the thinning of hair. Ginger has antiseptic properties too, that help in removing dandruff from hair (dandruff is also a cause of hair loss and thinning of hair)  Not only this, but ginger also provides shine to the hair. Take a ginger, cut it and rub it on your scalp where ever you want to grow new hair. Let it stay for 15-20 minutes and wash.
You can also cut a ginger, squeeze it's juice, apply the juice on your scalp for 20 mins, then wash away. You can mix the juice with some oil in equal quantity too. (Ginger will irritate your scalp but that's normal. It's a spice, no?)

Garlic:

Garlic is another ingredient that promotes hair growth and prevents the thinning of hair. It has sulfur and selenium that not only grows new hair but improves the structure of existing hair as well. People with bald patches don't need to worry, this might work for them as it reduces the size of bald patches.
You can use it the same way as you use ginger. Crush it, squeeze it's juice, apply n on your scalp, leave for 20-30 minutes and wash away. You can mix it with your favorite oil and massage too :)

Onion:

Onion is rich in sulfur just like garlic. It improves blood circulation in the scalp and provides nourishment to the hair . It also prevents premature graying of hair. Another benefit of applying onion is that it has anti bacterial properties that help in eliminating scalp infections that might contribute with hair loss too.
Use it the same way as you use ginger and garlic.

How to eliminate the smell of these ingredients from your hair?

You can't totally eliminate the smell after washing your hair with a mild shampoo though, but here's a tip. Take a lime, squeeze the juice into some water and wash your hair with that water. Helps in reducing the smell of ginger, garlic or onion.

Best way to use these ingredients?

Squeeze out their juices, mix them together, add in some oil and massage.
Leave it on hair for 30 minutes and wash away.
Do this regularly and you'll see results in 2 months. :)
