Short Review: Tribute to Madam Noor Jehan; "GUL-E-DAUDI"

Review:

A few days back, EMI Pakistan Ltd. released a short 15 minutes film, paying tribute to Madam Noor Jehan. It was directed by Umar Riaz, a young and very talented director. Media management was undertaken by Transmedia Digital.
I am not very fond of watching movies but was asked to watch this one. When I first heard that it's a tribute to Madam Noor Jehan, I thought it would be based on her life or her music career etc. but it wasn't like that.

It was a silent, black and white movie, like the ones people used to watch in old times. This is the real beauty of the movie. The director has done a great job! The storyline of the movie is simple yet unique. Old school filming technique adds extra points to it.
It is the story of a young boy and a girl in love, from their childhood to adulthood that shows different aspects of life focusing mainly on love and relationship. How a girl and boy fall in love in their childhood, how the love at that age is innocent. Then, how they grow up together, their intimacy, their bonding, their strong relationship in the form of marriage, everything is shown so beautifully. It shows how love can be so sweet and so harsh at times. Yes, that's the reality.
The movie shows how life is not only happiness and not only sadness but is a combination of both. There are good times and bad times, but how people who are together and who have to be together face all the difficulties together. They have to go through thick and thin together to prove their love and this makes the bond stronger.
The movie is a silent movie and each situation is described by Noor Jehan's songs. The legend's songs fit perfectly into every situation. From innocent childhood love to adulthood love involving intimacy, from sweet to sour. Every situation is described perfectly by her songs, from beginnings to middles to endings.

Cast:

The central couple was played by Ismat Jawwad and Usman Latif who are married to each other in real life.
Here is the cast of the movie.
